| The El Gitano Story
El Gitano was started in Burlington,
WA in 1983 as a (believe it or not) a Hungarian/Mexican Restaurant
by Adrian’s family. Adrian moved from a small town in the
state of Durango when he was 19 years old. He started working for
his aunt at El Gitano’s as a dishwasher and
quickly moved to management. In 1987, the family business was purchased
by Adrian. That’s the short story of the business, you’ll
have to come up to one of the restaurants to get the rest of the
story. Under his ownership the business has grown to 4 restaurants
with a reputation for fine food that has spread far and wide. And
El Gitano is still growing and improving on its
recipe for success.
You’re
bound to have a terrific dining experience at El
Gitano. Great Mexican food at a modest price, lots of it
and fast, friendly service in an authentic setting is the concept
behind El Gitano Mexican Restaurants. So if you appreciate good
Mexican food, come hungry and come often.
Once you step inside an El Gitano Restaurant, you’re
instantly in old Mexico. The decor is as authentic as the
menu. The soft lighting, the colors, the art, the music and the
wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen set the stage for the superb
dining experience to come. The owners are originally from Mexico
and have seen to it that every detail is authentic.
Start
with one of El Gitano’s famous margaritas
(we’re not kidding - these are exceptional!) or your choice
of beverages from the full service bar while you’re nibbling
on the complementary freshly made tortilla chips with El
Gitano’s own fresh salsa . Then, choose a delicious
appetizer from the
extensive selection. Speaking of extensive ... El Gitano
has the largest menu of any Mexican restaurant
in Northwestern Washington (and maybe in the whole state).
Seafood, steak,
traditional classics - you’ll find
them all at El Gitano. You’ll even find some
“signature” items that are exclusive to El Gitano
like the Seafood Dishes or the “to-die-for”
Chicken En Mole.
